LeagueA team brought together by a mutual love of hammers, specifically hand powered hammers like the ball-peen hammer, the gavel and the splitting maul, as opposed to mechanically powered hammers like the jackhammer. (We have noted the inclusion this season of a team called the Jackhammers, but despite a similarity in name we should point out that our respective interests are as different to each other as a sword is from a swordfish, and we are unlikely to have much in common with these people).
4 of our members had never been outdoors before touch rugby came along. Originally, touch was played on a Tuesday at 4pm but that was always the time we would meet to discuss and swap amusing anecdotes about hammers - Hammertime, if you will - so we couldn't join in. When the league changed to a Thursday night, we saw the opportunity to get outdoors and recruit other hammer enthusiasts. (Again, by this we mean hand powered hammers, and do not mean this as an invitation to the ATC Jackhammers. We will have nothing in common with these people).
We have three teams this season,
Hammertime - The original and best, our Mixed Team. With mixed results. Favoured hammer - The traditional ball-peen hammer
Hammermen - Our men's team. 14 penises. Favoured hammer - Splitting maul
HammerSpiders - Our women's team, in association with the Spiders Women's team. Shrill. Very shrill. Favoured hammer - the claw hammer
