Tournaments

One Day Tournaments are a great way to get involved and provide many of the social and fitness benefits that Touch has to offer! Regardless of playing standard we encourage individuals/teams to enter One Day Tournaments all over Scotland and Europe.

The organisers of these tournaments provide:

  • Professionally managed competitions

  • European Touch qualified Referees

  • Accommodation support/assistance

  • Social functions including Ceilidh bands and dinners

  • Great Prizes, Raffles etc

  • Quality facilities

  • The opportunity to meet people from around the country

Glasgow Touch also organises One Day Tournaments. At last years Glasgow tournament over 120 people from around the UK participated. It was a great success with the following results:

Trophy(winners): Tactus (Edinburgh)

Plate(runners up): Shake n Bake (Glasgow/London)

Wooden Spoon: Kieran's Team (Glasgow)

Team Spirit: Ciboodle/Hammer Time (Glasgow)

Great food and many beers were enjoyed by all in the bar afterwards with festivities continuing on into the evening with a Ceilidh. For photos of this tournament, please refer to the photo gallery.

The other main One Day Tournament is the Scottish National Championships. This is an annual tournament for those who wish to play more competitively and have the opportunity for national selection. Regional training for this tournament starts approximately 8 weeks prior to the tournament. Everyone is welcome to attend regional training sessions and selection is based on:

  • Commitment

  • Potential

  • Fitness

  • Skills

Anyone can be considered for Regional selection, however you can only be considered for National Squad selection if you satisfy the SNMC criteria (please see the STA website).

We will update this page with information on upcoming tournaments from around the UK and Europe. Where possible we also try to assist in helping individuals find teams for these tournaments.
